The PTI government has approved Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput’s appointment as chairman board of directors State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC).

Sohail is currently working as Special Secretary Ministry of Commerce.

The federal government has established the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan–SLIC under the Life Insurance (Nationalization) Order (LINO)1972.

Federal Government has 100% equity in the Corporation. Ministry of Commerce was responsible for administrative oversight of the Corporation. However, the Chairman and Board of Directors head the management of SLIC.

Pursuant to the Approval of Federal Cabinet dated 08-12-2020, the government had issued notification of Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput (PAS/BS-22) who is presently working as Special Secretary Ministry of Commerce.

The position of Director on State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) Board of Directors (BoD) representing Ministry of Commerce was vacant, and according to Section 12 of the Life Insurance Nationalization Ordinance, 1972, appointment as a director on SLIC, BoD is one of the mandatory requirements for becoming Chairman.

The Commerce Division sought the Cabinet’s approval to appoint Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput (PAS/BS-22), presently posted as Special Secretary Ministry of Commerce, as Member of the Board of Directors of State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC). The cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput as chairman board of directors.
