U.S, Pakistan launch Digital Platform For Pharmaceutical Imports, Exports

The United States (US) and Pakistan have launched an online platform to modernize pharmaceutical imports and exports.
 
The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) launched an innovative online platform, in partnership with the U.S. government.
 
The online platform will help to digitize pharmaceutical imports and exports in a bid to increase efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
 The system will also result in improving the business environment for the pharmaceutical industry.
 
It will also support Pakistan’s efforts to attract investment in the sector.
 
 
The U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Global Health Supply Chain program developed the new digital system.
 
The objective is to expedite the import and export licensing and certification functions of pharmaceutical products
 
The digital system is designed to generate electronic certificates with barcode authentication.
 
It will help reduce time to cut costs, enabling pharmaceutical products to move more easily through the supply chain
 
USAID Mission Director Julie A. Koenen expressed applaud and termed it a positive step to develop the pharmaceutical industry and introduce international standards for medicine quality assurance systems.
 
The Online Import and Export System is a positive signal for DRAP’s effectiveness as a central regulatory body for therapeutic goods in Pakistan.”
 
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan attended the handover ceremony of the Online Import and Export System.
 
He thanked and extended gratitude to USAID for helping the Government of Pakistan with digitization.
 
He said that it would lead to ease of doing business for the pharmaceutical industry in line with the vision of the Prime Minister.
 
PM advisor further added that DRAP had now re-engineered the software to bring efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the business process.
 
The U.S.-Pakistan partnership spans 75 years to improve the lives of Pakistanis.
 
  This partnership has also led to great achievements and accomplishments.
 
It ranges from responding to calamities to providing employment opportunities and strengthening governance and public service delivery systems
