Huajing S Hybrid SUV Launched with Competitive Pricing

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) has officially launched the Huajing S, its first hybrid SUV developed in partnership with Huawei, marking a significant step into the premium hybrid SUV market. The vehicle is priced aggressively, beginning at 149,800 yuan (approximately $22,030) after trade-in subsidies, making it a formidable contender in the Chinese automotive market.
The Huajing S is a full-size, six-seater SUV measuring 5,235 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm. It targets the premium family segment, combining spaciousness with advanced technology and comfort features. The interior includes zero-gravity massage seats, an in-car refrigerator with hot-and-cold functions, and a multi-screen entertainment system designed to enhance passenger experience.
A major highlight of the Huajing S is its integration of Huawei’s full suite of smart driving technologies. All variants come equipped with the HarmonySpace 5.0 cockpit system and the Qiankun ADS Pro enhanced autonomous driving system. The SUV also debuts Huawei’s Limera in-cabin LiDAR technology, underscoring a focus on safety and driver assistance capabilities.
Under the hood, the model features a 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid powertrain paired with batteries mainly supplied by CATL. The top-tier, four-wheel-drive variant delivers a combined output of 386 kilowatts and 620 Nm of peak torque. Performance figures are notable, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h achieved in 5.2 seconds.
Efficiency and range are other strengths of the Huajing S. According to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), the SUV offers a pure electric driving range of up to 255 kilometers. Combined with the hybrid system, the total driving range exceeds 1,100 kilometers on a full tank and full battery. Additionally, the vehicle supports fast charging technology rated at 3.5C, enabling users to significantly increase their driving range with just a 12-minute charge.
SGMW’s introduction of the Huajing S with such advanced features at a sub-150,000 yuan price point is a strategic move that intensifies competition in China’s lucrative hybrid SUV segment. The launch represents an ambition by SGMW to expand beyond its traditional budget market foothold and challenge established players offering premium models in this category.
The Huajing S is available immediately with deliveries underway through 309 experience centers across 204 cities in China. This collaboration between SGMW and Huawei aims to leverage cutting-edge technology to attract consumers seeking both performance and smart vehicle capabilities.
Overall, the Huajing S presents an attractive proposition for families looking for a spacious, tech-forward hybrid SUV with strong performance credentials and competitive pricing within the evolving Chinese automotive landscape.
