Meta has launched the Meta Business AI Agent on WhatsApp, a new artificial intelligence system designed to help businesses respond to customer messages more efficiently. This global rollout aims to streamline customer support and sales conversations for businesses of all sizes using WhatsApp Business on Android and iOS.
The Meta Business AI Agent was formally introduced at Conversations 2026, part of Meta’s broader initiative to enhance messaging platforms with AI technology. The feature enables businesses to manage multiple simultaneous customer chats quickly and consistently without human delay, improving response times and operational efficiency.
This AI-powered assistant offers 24/7 customer support, allowing businesses to reply to customer inquiries even outside regular working hours. It manages routine questions while freeing human teams to focus on complex issues, maintaining a balance between automation and human interaction. Business users retain full control over the AI’s involvement, with options to decide when the AI responds or when a human agent should intervene.
The agent’s setup and training process take place within the WhatsApp Business tools section, where companies can train the AI to adopt their unique communication styles by learning from past chat histories or starting from scratch. Training helps the AI offer responses that match the brand’s tone and customer expectations. Once activated, the AI agent can be managed via a dedicated chat interface called “Your AI agent,” providing controls to update instructions and refine messaging.
