CMOs involve in Poor quality, coverage and overcharging

Islamabad: Country’s top CMO—Jazz Pakistan—has topped PTA’s survey by registering major complaints by consumers on three counts—quality of service, coverage issues (non-provision of service), and billing-related issues (overcharging/tariff), reveals the finding of Regulator on Tuesday.

As per the PTA survey, Telenor Pakistan grabbed the second position whereas Zong is at three in the list and Ufone is at the bottom of the list on three counts of quality of service, coverage, and billing/tariff-related issued and judged by consumers of various cities of the country.

According to PTA, Jazz Pakistan holds 36 % market shares at the top, Telenor second at the list with 28 % share, Zong at third with 22 % share, and Ufone at the bottom with 14 % share.

The consumes of all four major Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) in all four major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Karachi, and Faisalabad are facing poor quality of service and coverage as well along with overcharging, the survey highlighted.

The consumers of Telenor in other cities like Jauharabad of Punjab complained about overcharging and consumers of Zong in Nowshera and Charsadda also complaints about coverage issues, the survey added.

Jazz

The complaints against Jazz about the quality of service, PTA survey reveals that the users of Jazz in Lahore topped with 32 % complaints, Faisalabad 18 %, Gujranwala 16%, Rawalpindi 9 %, Karachi 9%, Islamabad 9%, and Mianwali 7 %.

Similarly, the complaints about Jazz on non-provision of services in Karachi is 30%, Lahore 25%, Islamabad 15%, Rawalpindi 10%, Charsadda 10%, and Faisalabad 10%, and complaints about billing-related issues against Jazz from consumers of various cities are reported as Lahore 38%, Islamabad 18%, Karachi 14%, Multan 12%, Rawalpindi 9%, Faisalabad 8% and Jauharabad 1%.

Telenor

Most of the complaints against Telenor are on the quality of service. The complaints reported as Islamabad 42%, Mianwali 16%, Rawalpindi 17%, Faisalabad 17, and Lahore 8%.

On Non-Provision of services of Telenor, PTA received more complaints from consumers of cities as Faisalabad 25%, Karachi 25%, Rawalpindi 12%, Charsadda 12%, Lahore 13%, and Islamabad 13%.

Similarly, on billing-related issues, the complaints of consumers from cities include Jauharabad 34%, Karachi 19%, Lahore 16%, Islamabad 14%, Rawalpindi 9%, Multan 6%, and Faisalabad 2%.

Zong

Zong, China Mobile Pakistan, with ranked 3rd in market share, registered complaints on the quality of service from consumers in Islamabad 27%, Lahore 20%, Rawalpindi 20%, Karachi 13%, Mianwali 13 and Faisalabad 7%.

On Non-provision of service, the consumer’s complaint from Nowshera 67%, Charsadda 17%, Islamabad 11%, and Lahore 5%. On billing-related issues, the major complaints reported from cities as Karachi 36%, Lahore 28%, Rawalpindi 14%, Islamabad 11%, Faisalabad 8%, and Multan 3%.

Ufone

Ufone—Government monopoly and at the bottom when considered market share, registered complaints on the quality of services by consumers of various cities as Lahore 45%, Islamabad 22%, Karachi 22%, and Gujranwala 11%.

On non-provision of services, Ufone received more complaints from cities as Islamabad 34%, Lahore 25%, Rawalpindi 25%, Karachi 8%, and Charsadda 8% and on billing related issues, the complaints received from consumers as Karachi 30%, Lahore 30%, Rawalpindi 30% and Islamabad 10%.
