Over 140,000 Candidates Register for MDCAT 2025
Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) has announced that over 140,000 applicants have registered for the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025, which will be conducted nationwide as well as at designated only one international centers i.e, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
Earlier, the MDCAT examination was scheduled to be held on October 5, 2025. However, considering the difficulties faced by students in the flood-affected areas, the examination has now been rescheduled for October 26, 2025 (Sunday).
According to the data, a total of 140,071 candidates have successfully registered for MDCAT 2025. The test will be conducted through provincial universities as well as at overseas venues to facilitate international applicants.
A total of 50,443 candidates have registered from Punjab to appear under the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, 33,160 candidates from Sindh under the Sukkur IBA Testing Service, 39,964 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the Khyber Medical University, Peshawar, and 10,278 candidates from Balochistan under the Bolan University of Medical & Health Sciences, Quetta.
In addition, 1,146 candidates have registered from the Islamabad Capital Territory, 3,322 from Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and 1,564 from Gilgit-Baltistan, all under the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad. Furthermore, 194 candidates have been registered to appear at international venues, also through Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad.
The highest number of applicants has been recorded in Punjab, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.
As per the PM&DC statement, the MDCAT exam is going to be conducted by universities nominated by the federal and provincial authorities, not by PMDC. However, PMDC, as a regulator, has developed a uniform syllabus for the MDCAT and an item bank in consultation with all stakeholders, including federal and provincial authorities.
The test-conducting universities have to ensure that PM&DC standards are strictly followed during paper setting and the declaration of results.
All the admitting universities have to make the necessary arrangements to facilitate the large number of applicants across all provinces and international centers.
The PM&DC and the universities are in touch with the federal and provincial authorities such as FIA, IB, and police, so that any untoward incident of leakage of paper and cheating. The candidates are also directed to follow instructions and advisories issued by the PM&DC or the universities from time to time for genuine information and not pay any heed to false reporting circulating in the media.
PM&DC has further instructed the admitting universities to coordinate with all relevant agencies and authorities to ensure a transparent examination process nationwide and internationally, preventing any possibility of cheating or paper leaks.
The Council has emphasized that any such incident will not be tolerated and will be dealt with strictly and in accordance with the law. The MDCAT is a mandatory entry test for admission into medical and dental colleges across Pakistan and serves as a crucial step in ensuring that only the most competent students are admitted into the healthcare profession.PMDC Starts Probe Against Medics over alleged Negligence
PM&DC President Dr. Rizwan Taj has requested all the universities to make the best possible efforts to conduct a smooth MDCAT examination for the candidates.
He also advised and encouraged the candidates to focus on their studies with dedication, emphasizing that hard work and merit are the only paths to success, and advised all candidates to prepare diligently for the upcoming examination and strictly refrain from using any unfair means.
