It will also target localization to attain maximum addition within Pakistan.

The M/o Industries and Production solicited approval of the Chairman ECC to resubmit the subject policy presented to the ECC in its last meeting held on 10th December 2021.

ECC had deferred consideration till the next meeting of the ECC. The Chairman, ECC, allowed presenting the agenda of the new auto policy 2021-2026.

Therefore, the Ministry of Industries and Production presented the draft Policy. The salient features of the policy were shared with the economic decision-making body.

The economic coordination committee discussed the matter threadbare and it made certain observations.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet considered the summary Ministry of Industries and Production had submitted regarding “Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (AIDEP), 2021-26”. The economic decision making body approved the policy with the some amendments.

The previous government of PML-N had also introduced the new auto policy in 2016 to break the monopoly of existing car makrers.

It had announced incentives for new car entrants. It had observed local car makers were manufacturing cars with obsolete technology. They were also charging ‘own money on the delivery of new cars.

After that policy, there are several new car makers in the market. However, they still continue fleecing the customers. They had increased car prices several times. The local car makers were also charging the “own money” on the delivery of new cars. This is still big challenge for current government.
