Senate Panel Directs FIA to Probe Bogus Nursing Colleges

Islamabad: A Parliamentary Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination on Wednesday directed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) may look into the matter of bogus nursing colleges.
It also directed to probe affiliated with hospitals and fake certifications issued to nurses by the institutions registered with the Pakistan Nursing Council.
A meeting of the subcommittee of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination was held under the convenership of Senator Rubina Khalid at Parliament House.HSA Starts Training Workshops To Improve Health System
Senator Rubina Khalid asked the Media to highlight the crucial issue of Bogus Nursing Colleges all over Pakistan to save the future of youth.
She said that the Pakistan Nursing Council is a Big Mafia in the health sector.
The committee directed to write a letter to the ministry on their persistence, negligence, and unpreparedness on this crucial matter involving the lives of the people of Pakistan.
Senator Rubina Khalid recommended that the matter may also be marked to the Prime Minister.
The committee also sought details of the new nursing council after it has been notified. The Convener while admonishing the working of the Pakistan Nursing Council termed this act as criminal negligence.
The Convener Senator Rubina Khalid warned not to allow playing with the lives of the people.
“This is all fake, the PNC runs with speed money, buys seats, and attributes thug behavior, “ she said while adding that this mafia has to stop.
The meeting which was led by Senator Rubina Khalid and members Senator Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar and Senator Dr Mehr Taj Roghani here at the Parliament House on Wednesday took serious notice of the nonrepresentation of the PNC and absence of the Secretary, or the Special Secretary, and other versant officers of the ministry on the matter.
The convener, while expressing shock that no representatives are present to brief such a climacteric agenda point, “the ministry and the PNC jointly tried to fool us,” she said.
The committee inquiring about the absence of Fouzia Mushtaq, Registrar of PNC, was informed by the PNC representative that she had to attend a function at the office of the Prime Minister, the convener committee sought intimation letter and also the invitation to which the committee observed that no specific name was mentioned on the invitation and it was an open invitation of a fundraising event.
The committee remarked that the matter being discussed here was far more pertinent than this event and sought all the details on the event which was found more important than this crucial matter of fake nursing.
Chairman Pakistan Nursing Council was also invited to the occasion.
The committee noted that instead of the chairman IT in charge PNC was nominated to present the matter which speaks volumes of mala fide intent on the part of the council. The committee also decided to bring the matter to the main committee for strict action.
The committee also thoroughly went through the working documents on the registration of hospitals with the PNC, on examining the committee termed the entire working paper a “Pack of Fraud” and said that there are several registrations that need clarification.
The meeting was deferred with regret and exasperation for further deliberation.
